My Piece “The Art Queue, Melbourne” has been selected for the Fine Art Textiles Award Exhibition. This will be on show at the Festival of Quilts in Birmingham from 1st-4th August, and then it goes to the Knitting and Stitching show in London from 10-13th October.
This picture shows a detail of the whole piece. The work depicts people in Melbourne standing in a queue to see an exhibition of 20th century artworks from the MOMA collection in New York. It was a Sunday and the last day of the show and these people had just a few hours left before the show would close. The queue was snaking round the marked out barriers and out into the main entrance lobby.
This piece has been stitched in orange/red with purple screenprinting. I wanted to add a lot more colour, I also left a lot of long dangling threads, these drip off the bottom edge of the piece to evoke dripping paint. (hopefully!)
